Thomas Hawk, Photography and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

You would think that a place like the SF MOMA would be more accepting of photographers and photography.

This wasn't the case with the popular photography blogger, Thomas Hawk, over the weekend. He blogs, here and here, about his incident with SF MOMA's Director of Visitor Relations Simon Blint.

A friend of Blint defends the director's actions.

If you feel that the way the Thomas Hawk situation was handled was wrong let the museum know.

Press Photographer Heckles Barack Obama in Berea, Ohio

Someone needs to teach the photographer on assignment for Bloomberg News that as a member of the press he's an impartial observer. No matter how strongly he feels what Obama does or doesn't do, he's there to cover the event not to dictate what is suppose to happen.

Read the story from the Sacramento Bee and Camapign U.

Pirelli Calendar 2008: Behind The Scenes Video

Lately, I have been watching a lot of videos about photographers and their technique. This, of course, is a great way to find inspiration. Also, photography should be a constant learning process. Now with video on the internet it's easy to learn from some of the top names in the photo industry. Here is my latest find; a behind the scenes video of Patrick Demarchelier on assignment for the 2008 Pirelli Calendar. Enjoy and let me know if you have any favorite videos on photography.

Joe McNally's New Book:The Hot Shoe Diaries

Joe McNally
is coming out with a new book The Hot Shoe Diaries- Creative Applications of Small Flashes. The strobist in me really wants this. The book comes on the heels of his first book The Moment it Clicks, which hit the shelves only a few moths ago. Both are on my Amazon wish list so feel free to get them for me if your so inclined.

Also, if you want to learn more from McNally he has his own YouTube channel. Everything he puts out is very informative and you'll learn a lot about photography.
